good. Awesome hamburgers, pizzas and salads. One of my favorite places to eat.
Still great after 25 years.
I have been going to the the Loop since the mid-80s. The Loop has changed a lot since it opened, but I think the changes are a good thing. The salads are delicious and big enough to be a meal in themselves. Both the California Style and the traditional (I won't call it Chicago-style because it simply isn't) are both great. I can forgive the Loop for not having traditional Chicago-style pizza, as I don't think even they refer to it as such anymore.
Other highlights include the shakes. I always order mine extra-thick. The burgers and sandwiches are good, too. There is lots of variety to suit wide tastes. I can't think of anything on the menu I wouldn't eat. Ingredients seem fresh and high-quality.
Tomato Bisque...Yum!.
I was reading all the reviews and not a single one mentioned the tomato bisque soup with melba toast. This is soup is absolutely to die for. I crave this soup.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for a first date or lunch with the kids. If you frequent the riverside area try stopping by the St. Johns Ave location. If its not to hot sit outside by the water. This is surely to be a treat in its self.
Yum!. I just have to reccommend the portobello mushroom sandwich. I'm following a low-carb diet and they offer a low-carb wrap instead of the traditional bun for 25 cents more, which I think is just great. It's served with an awesome roasted garlic mayo that is awesome (and I don't even like mayo!!). I would reccommend this restaurant to anyone.
also recommend.... I also enjoy the Loop at the corner of St. John's Avenue and Herschel. My family and I especially enjoy the tables outside on the water, or if it's too hot then the window seats with a view of the water. It just makes the food that much better it seems. It's a great place to go for lunch with the kids. Also, I have to mention the cookies and cream milkshake, which my girls and I love. Sometimes we go there just for a milkshake and our favorite the grilled chicken ceasar salad. Plus at this loaction they bring your order to your table which is great when your hands are full with the kids and diaper bags. :) Enjoy!
Fast-food convenience meshes with full-service perks at this local chain restaurant..
The Scene
This local favorite is hard to characterize, but everyone loves it. On one hand, it's a fast-food operation--order at the counter and pick up the tray when your number's called. On the other, the service and food are sit-down-restaurant quality. Many of the city's industrious teens work here, giving the place a youthful air.
The Food
The thin-crust California specialty pizzas include the barbecued chicken with carmelized onions and roasted garlic. Next comes the heartier, Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas. Start off with the Chicago thick crust (you could go thin, but why?) and start piling on your favorite toppings. Hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches are also available. You won't find many fast-food joints that serve freshly prepared salads with balsamic vinaigrette, sun-dried tomatoes and mesclun greens. But you will here.
Food. I eat here pizza alot, it is good but. But I have problems with consistency. Sometime the order is wrong, sometimes its not cooked correctly.
great food. food good but portion are small for the price, they should stick with portion they had a year ago. the prices went up and the portion went smaller
Kid place. Disagree. This place is for kids. The food isn't that good. People seem to follow those that think Loop Pizza is the in place. Forget that place.
Loop it Tonight. Far superior to the big chains. Simply the best deep dish pizza in town.
