Outstanding stay. The hotel is sophisticated but comfortable. The pool is great, and they offer convenient beach amenities. The beach is great for shell collecting, but it can be rough to walk on because of all of the shells.

The restaurants are great, especially Salt, the signature restaurant. It is truly a dining experience. The sticky buns at the breakfast buffet are also sinfully delicious.

The service at the hotel is unbelievable. I am four months pregnant and really wanted some french onion soup for dinner. After checking the restaurant menus with no luck, I asked the front desk if I could get it through room service. They said they'd see what they could do. About 20 minutes later, Ritz employee Alberto Venagas presented me with a bowl of french onion soup that he'd gone off property to get. We were stunned by the above and beyond effort!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay all the way around!

Very, very vanilla.. Right. If you go here for the hotel and surrounding area, then great.

My husband and I made the mistake of staying here while having to deal with business in Jacksonville, some 45 minutes away. I didn't think the proximity was a big deal via car, I looked it up on Mapquest. Apparently, it was a huge deal! Lots of traffic congestion made the trip to 1-1/4 hr drive instead, which was a real beeatch very early mornings.

As for the hotel, it was boring and uninspired. Very, very vanilla.

Southern hospitality in a luxurious oceanfront setting.. The Scene
With its dramatic setting on an isolated barrier island, this luxury resort offers the opportunity to really feel as if you've gotten away from it all. The pool area looks as if belongs in Hawaii and is beautifully juxtaposed against the rugged backdrop of the dunes.

The Details
The guest rooms are traditional in style, done with botanical prints and flowered fabrics. All include private balconies, and many have direct ocean views. The Club Level Lounge has an entirely different tone with its classic, modern furnishings. The Ocean Bar & Grill serves casual fare complemented by views of pelicans and dolphins. The Golf Club of Amelia Island offers an 18-hole PGA championship course that takes full advantage of its dune setting. Dive-in movie pool parties and turtle education classes are among the kids' program activities. The 30,000 square-feet of function space can be arranged for business or pleasure. Additional treats include a full spa, nine oceanside tennis courts and sunrise Tai-Chi.
