Exquisite. Best place to catch a sunset on Amelia Island. Sip drinks while sitting in the rocking chairs and watch the sun set over the marshes/through the marina.

The dinner far exceeded my expectations. I have had many very expensive and very fine meals in the Washington DC area where I live. This ranks well up the list. It was moderately priced and reflected the regional influences with culinary charm. Flavors were well balanced and sufficiently sophisticated.

The fried green tomatoes with goat cheese were a perfect fusion of southern and modern flavors. The crawfish grits were also interesting; a fusion of Cajun and southern flavors. The seared scallops were perfectly prepared and the herb crusted beef was appropriately seasoned (not over seasoned) and tender.

My only complaint would lie in the wine pairing. This is partly my fault. I deferred to the server's suggestion to pair a Sauvignon Blanc with the scallops. Not a bad pairing but an oaked Chardonnay with a hint of citrus would have paired better than the fruity citrus of the Sauvignon Blanc.

The dessert was also well presented and equally exquisite. Fresh peach torte - My wife thought that it was perfect. I craved a sprinkle of nutmeg (just on the plate).

All together I was very pleasantly surprised by my culinary experience at Brett's. The sophistication of the menu and the professionalism of the service were also notable.

The restaurant's name Brett's Waterway Cafe is rather unfortunate. It is far more than a cafe, but I suppose that the owner is Brett. Regardless, whoever the Chef is he/she is to be complimented. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

great night. Me and my husband went to Fernandina on a get away from everything. We asked where to go and was referred here several times. We got there before sunset and asked for a window table. The hostess advised us that there would be a wait and we got cocktails out on the porch and rocked and watch the beautiful sunset. The timimng for our table was perfect. Our server was attentive and great. Mgmt came by to check on everything. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

3rd Time & STILL not the charm. We've eaten here three times over the past few years.

Beer - warm

Seating - terrible (you're always next to the smoking section)

Food - blah to bad at best. Who can mess up mashed potatoes. My son's chicken fingers were even awful.
