Nothing Special - not worth the time
by blueridgemtns
Unprofessional wait staff. I had the highly recommended catfish and I've had better frozen fish from Mrs. Pauls. We were very disappointed and I wouldn't even go back for a free meal.
- Pros: Waterfront outdoor dining
- Cons: Food not good.
Not the same....

The wife and decided to try Whiteys Fish Camp.. I had told her about it from my days living and growing up in Orange Park and graduating from Orange Park High.
I was very disappointed. the wife had the fried platter, tuned out to be just that "typical" same fried platter you get at any seafood restaurant, the ice tea was even bland.
I had the what you would call, "Whiteys famous all-you-can eat catfish", first piece in the basket nice firm and not mushy. Nice and hot. After that it was all down hill the next two pieces in the basket were very mushy, but I hacked through it and thought maybe it was just this serving. Well, when I asked for a second helping there was more of the same. I know the consistency of catfish and this wasn't cutting it. Need to also have ketchup and mustard at the table for your fries and not have to ask for it as well.
The fried pickles were not all that people say that they are and the fried potatoes for the side were cold. The best part or at least sort of was the salad and even that was not that great.
Sorry to be so negative, but that is what Whitey's left me with a negative idea of a restaurant that has been a Clay County mainstay for over 40 years.

Two bad experiences

The staff were rude and unorganized. Twice I have been there asking for seating outside. One person tells you where to sit, another tells you not to sit. Another time, before we had a chance to tip the waitress, she threw the change for the bill across our table. We had to chase her down to give her the tip. I didn't think the food was that great.
- Pros: It has an outdoor setting on the water.
- Cons: Good luck getting a seat.
