Never Again.
My husband and I spent the weekend in St. Augustine, FL for his health. We chose the Comfort Inn based upon two criteria. One, the price and proximity to the beach and, two, because someone had given this hotel a 3.7 (out of 4) rating. This rating is highly overrated!
My family and I have stayed at three hotels, over the years, both in Georgia and in Florida, that are managed by immigrants from a third world country. There is a trend among these proprietors to be barely civil to downright surly to their customers and these managers always ‘cut corners’ to save money at the expense of the guests. When we walked in the roomy felt like a refrigerator; but, after we cut off the air conditioner and the room warmed up, the room had a musty smell.
This inn allows pets—any size and any number of pets. That is a good idea (to allow family pets) but it is definitely too much of a good thing. The man next door had three large dogs. One was a boxer and I’m not sure of the breed of the other two. You know those big dogs were allowed on the beds. Our room was so musty smelling that we were reasonably sure that the carpets had not been cleaned in a good while and we weren’t sure if the bedspreads were cleaned either (a cost savings, cut corners method).
I understand the immigrants from a third world country do not have the same standards of cleaning that most Americans have; but, when you come to this country and receive government assistance in getting set up in a business, you should adapt to the American standards of cleanliness.
Also, the guest next door not only had dogs that barked when anyone walked by, but, he entertained a guest with whom he exchanged a rather loud, vulgar, profane and coarse shouting match. Another guest was so proud of his motorcycle that he kept revving it up for a good 10 or 15 minutes. Now, I know this isn’t the management’s fault, but, it should give prospective hotel guests an idea of the type of clientele that frequent this inn.
My husband and I will never be back and we would highly suggest all people reading this would reconsider also.
