Honesty. We thought the food was only alright. The meal for the two of us was $58.95. They swiped my card and I added a $9.00 tip, making the total $67.95, a 15% tip is $8.84. The service was average. On my credit card statement they rolled the tip up making my final charge being $70.95. Ask for a final receipt since they are not honest.
So good it will make you slap your mama !. I go to St Augustine a couple of times a year. This year my best friend and my very picky 17 year old daughter accompanied me. On the reccomendation of my boss we went to La Strada. It was small but intimate setting. Our waitress was fabulous. The food was outstanding ! In particular the Vodka sauce was FANTASTIC !!! I wish I lived closer I would eat there at least once a week. I tell everyone if they visit this beautiful city they must eat at LaStrada. I will definately return the next time I am there.
bad news. As St Augustine residents my wife and I have eaten at most of the local restaurants and finally decided to try La Strada. What a mistake that was..service was SLOW...food was NOT even mediocre...the prices were way OUT of proportion for the quality. We will never eat there again and made sure all of our neighbors are aware of how BAD it was.
This place was awesome!. This was one of the best meals we had in St. Augustine. The place is quite small, but the food was to die for. Excellent lobster bisque, fried calamari and shrimp francese. This chef KNOWS how to cook seafood!! I don't put a lot of weight on the waitstaff because I know how hard it is to find good help and our waiter was just ok, not the best or worst I've ever had. It's the FOOD that makes this place. Go...I promise, you won't regret it.
What the ?.
We didn?t even bother to try their food. This was supposed to be a nice upscale restaurant. When I called them they told me they were an upscale restaurant so I made a reservation. When we walked in we noticed that it was really small inside so it got really loud. They had Christmas lights on the wall along with old pictures and toys. There were two servers working, but only one of them was doing anything. When we walked in we stood there several minutes because they didn?t have anybody to seat us.
Even though I was not thoroughly impressed at this point I wanted to make the most if it. Our waiter approached us and introduced himself. He looked sloppy because he was wearing an old worn out belt and his shirt was stained. Afterwards he gave us our menus and named the specials. He filled our glasses with water and gave us a moment to look over the menu. However, he did not ask us what we wanted to drink. He came back and got our orders. My husband had a question about an entree on the menu and our waiter didn?t even know how to pronounce the item and thought it was funny that he didn?t know how it was pronounced. Our waiter still didn?t offer us anything to drink. Our waiter returned a couple minutes later and asked if we wanted some bread, but still did not offer us anything to drink.
My husband got up to go to the restroom. The men?s restroom was out of service so he had to use the women?s. Well the women?s bathroom didn?t lock and a woman walked in on him when he was washing his hands. Then there weren?t any paper towels in the bathroom so he had to use his dinner napkin to dry his hands. Our waiter noticed that the woman had walked in on him and came to our table to laugh about it.
That was it for me. I told my husband that I wanted to leave so we went up the road to Amici?s which was great.
Price was not an issue and I wouldn?t have mind paying more and not to sound cheap, but for $20-25 an entree you expect the place to be classier then this.
