I rather drive my own car, insted of risking my Life riding one of your Taxi-s,No.4578 better start using his Turn signals,or you know what it good for,I will contact the safety Commision and have you people taken care of,there are lots of Idoits doing the same and Im not going to get the blame hitting the person on the rear. There have been so many Accidents here in Jax and the numbers keep piling up and Florida was ranked in the Third of the deadlest Traffic Acciendents that was in 2011 and they are going to be Number one,If they don"t smarten up.Our Goverment don"t seem to care.
horrible and irresponsible staff at Gator Taxi shall never use this service again...after booking them 1hour in advance they say they can be late, they need window of 15 minutes , they suck they are not even sorry for the damage because they could not com on time...horrible @#$%%^$##
They are thieves and dishonest people!!! Charged me almost 100 dollars just to ride from the airport to NAS Jax. Sorta funny how NONE of the other cabs charge that much.
sad to hear that... well as a possible person to join those ranks lol i don't mind, a job is a job, i love to talk to people and interact ... idk i think the ADHD makes me a good fit haha, who knows, i hope to improve the experience, i have never personally ridden with these guys before but i have taken checkered cab before... cab companies have their ups and downs as does the economy and businesses... have a good one :/
THEY ARE THIEVES!!! Arrived in Jacksonville, shuttle from airport to airport area hotel. Realized I forgotten some needed items and wanted a bottle of wine for later; so I called their service. The 1st driver WAS honest, talkative and informative. Round trip including 2 stops and waiting at Walgreen's $12.
Okay, day two and I need some aspirin so I call them again. This driver wasn't friendly. As we are driving down the same road as yesterday I'm noticing the meter is DOUBLE almost every block. The rate was 2. I'm like WTF but didn't rock the boat. Round trip 1 stop with shorter waiting time $17.
Final day I need to make it to the bus station because I'm not flying out. Bus station is 12 miles from the airport. Called for a quote was told $1.75 to enter and $2.00 a mile. I ended up paying $38!!! Again rate was set to 2.
Arrive in Raleigh and hailed a cab. Asked the driver was the rate 1 meant; he said 1 passenger. So, they (Gator Taxi) charged me double. F&*king Crooks!!!
I got 3 good drivers.... – I had to make 3 different trips in the same day. The first driver was nice, courteous and his car was clean. The ride didn't cost as much as I thought it would either. The 2nd driver picked me up from the grocery store. It was a really nice Asian gentleman. He helped me with the groceries and he was extremely nice and courteous. I think they sent the large shuttle cab since they knew I was at the grocery store, which is also very thoughtful. Then, I received a call where I had to get to my destination immediately. I did not have time to wait on the bus to get me there. So, I called Gator City a 3rd time. The 3rd driver was nice, he mapped the best route for me so I wouldn't have to pay so much, although this last trip was a little pricey. None of the drivers tried to run the meter up on me. Overall I appreciated the service all 3 times. I was able to get things done quickly. All 3 drivers were here within 10 mins. I don't know if it was just a good day for me or if people only write reviews when they want to vent and if there is good service no one bothers to write a review. But I believe that if you want good service it's nice to praise people when they do well so they can keep doing it.
Some give their best... – Sadly, a good number of the drivers I have had have absolutely NO customer service skills or professionalism. Probably stemming from the fact that the majority of them hate their jobs as Taxi drivers, but must pay their bills.
Times ARE tough, there is no denying that. Many of us ARE doing jobs we would rather NOT be doing. Unfortunately, a good many of the drivers I have ridden with make NO effort to hide their disdain for their jobs and ( it almost feels like) their hatred for you. Perhaps they "think" you have more because you're affording a cab? I don't know. A sorry bunch of gentlemen driving Gator cabs. Despite that, I still tip them -- quite well, I might add.
People answering the phones do their best to hook you up, and resolve issues. But, it seems, drivers can botch up things just the same.
I shall be trying other companies in the future but I fear I may find much the same... a lot of bitter, unhappy people grudgingly doing jobs they would rather not do... just a sign of the times, I suppose.
Mysteriously higher fair, and credit card machine "broken" – Wish I could rate these guys lower than one star...
On Friday, February 18, 2011, my wife and I requested the Omni Hotel in downtown Jacksonville to call a cab to take us the airport. Unfortunately, we ended up in a Gator City Taxi.
I knew form our initial taxi ride to the hotel from the airport, as well as information provided by the conference organizers, that the ride should be between $35 and $36. I should have know something was up when, three minutes into the ride, I saw that the fare meter was not running. In fact, it did not look like it was even on and the "vacant" button was lit. I figured I would wait and see what happened as I already knew the approximate fare.
When we pulled up to the unloading area at the terminal, my wife said "we will need to charge the fare on a credit card" to which the driver replied " Ok, let me get the door for you...". Once we were out of the cab and had our luggage, the driver stated that "the credit card machine is not working." On our taxi ride in, the driver used an manual swipe (the old knuckle buster one) so I was not buying this. Then the driver stated the fair was $49! When I resounded that the fair on the ride in to the hotel from the airport had been only $35, he claimed that he had to pay a premium to get the call for the hotel pick up.
I was quite angry by this point, knowing full and well that the driver was trying to scam a higher fare. I also knew I had the advantage as we were out of the cab at our destination, with our luggage, and that he was parked in a loading /unloading zone and could not stay there very long. when I stated that I did not have that much cash on me, the driver asked " Well, how much do you have?" I responded that I was only paying $36 for the faire, and handed him $36 in cash. I then demanded a receipt, to which he handed me his entire "receipt" packet. I responded that he would have to fill it out for me
Diver was trying to scam a few extra bucks from some "tourists" who he thought did not know any better. Unfortunately, be got only the "fair fare and no tip...but did earn his company a complaint!
