My husband and I tried for the first time a few weeks ago.Food and service was excellent .We have been back again and will continue to enjoy the wonderful food
Best restaurant in Jax. Very good. I eat there all the time and have never been disappointed. I know the owners and they are great people. They have fabulous chicken tenders and great daily specials. The fried chicken is great too, just call in advance because it takes 20 min to cook. They also serve breakfast all day for those late sleepers. So come on in and try it. You won't be disappointed.
an excellent place for home cooking eats. lets set the record straight, tads has been around for 62 years. they first started on park st.and moved to lane ave, that tells you something right there ,to be around that long ,they must be doing something right, and of course your gonna have a few unhappy customers you just cant please everybody. my experience with tads has always been great . with the down country home cooking wether it be breakfast lunch or dinner. the atmosphere is cozy, clean place to eat at,friendly customer service , affordable prices, and a overwhelming amount of food.my husband and i highly suggest you give tads a try out, i think you will be satisfied .we love tads and will continue to keep dining at tads.
A Good Act is Hard To Follow. I remember going to Tad's when I was little I had such fond memories of the place that when I passed it I had to stop in. What a mistake. The family atmosphere I had remembered so fondly was gone. The new owners evidently don't know what they are doing. The service was terrible. The food was eh..... Least to say it is not what it used to be. I will never go again. I left sad and disappointed.
I am sorry you had a bad experience, but I assure you that is not the way my restaurant is run. Most of my waitresses have been at Tad's for numerous years and are among the best in the business.
A majority of my customers are regulars and have become like family to us.
Also, my food is top quality and I rarely have a complaint. I don't know what happened when you were there, but if you call me or come back in, I will buy your meal.
Sincerely, Veronica Chapin, owner
No Competition. My wife and I eat out more than most folks. Tad's is our exclusive choice for breakfast and a surprisingly good choice for lunch and dinner. We've never been disappointed in the food quality and enjoy the atmosphere of good service, good humor and good politics.
The other side of the story regarding cableguy. In response to cableguy, here is the other side of the story, The restaurant was real busy and his friend's meal did come out later than the others. However, his friend's attitude was what made the situation worse. I apoligized for the food being late and offered to take off 50 percent off his meal. However, he insisted that he get his meal for free and even said if I don't eat it you will just have to throw it away, I gave it to him for FREE. Not only did he get his meal free, but they left without paying for a BLT that another man at the table ate. To me that is stealing. I rarely have complaints and I have a loyal customer base. After the men left, other customers that overheard the conversation said that if they were me, they would have thrown the man out.
Country Cookin...but MISSING FRIENDLY SERVICE!!. Went to Tad's for the first time with friends on Sunday. Restaurant is very dated, but the waitress seemed friendly. Everyone ordered and the food came fairly promptly, with the exception of ONE person in our party. His food arrived when everyone else was finishing! The waitress apologized and said she would take it off the bill. Then a female owner came over and said "sorry, I can take 50% off the bill". When he rebutted and said go ahead and take it back, she replied "go ahead and keep it if you need it that bad". This customer service nightmare was shocking in these tough times. Apparently, the leadership team at Tad's thinks they are a Jacksonville institution and they don't need good customer service to stay in business? All I have to say is "good luck". Now everyone knows about our experience and we won't be back. Take a moment to find out what "word of mouth" can do to a business, Tad.
not bad but wasn't thrilled when check arrived.. Had breakfast at Tad's. Overall decent, however was surprised when they brought the check and had charged $1.50 per person to substitute hash browns for grits. If it's listed that way on the menu, ok (which it wasn't), but don't surprise people when the check comes. The explanation was that one cost more than another (yeah, right). Most places give you a choice between the 2 anyway. Will try other places before going back. No, it's not a huge amount, but seriously . . . .
Fantastic Home Cooked Meals for a Low Price. Tad's has some of the best cooked food that I've had in Jacksonville. All of the meals are made from scratch and the chef serves everything from chicken fried steak to stuffed pork loin to fresh crab cakes. They don't just serve lunch and dinner. They also are known for their great breakfast. Again, everything is made to order. The omelets, French toast, pancakes, and fruit are very tasty. I've been going to Tad's for about a year now, and every meal I've had is delicious. Did I mention the portion sizes? They're huge and the prices are unbeatable for the food quality and size. The place has a very homey feel to it. The wait staff is very friendly and it seems like the patrons all enjoy their meals there. The owners are always there and make sure your visit goes well. This is a restaurant that gets you hooked after one visit- I highly recommend it.
mmm home cookin'. Good old fashion style restaurant. Soups are excellent and breakfasts are generous and served hot.
