Tips for Cracker Barrel Old Country Str

July 25, 2008

A little ole' country general store serving down-home foods and goods since 1969.. In Short
Originating in Lebanon Texas, this country store and restaurant has branched out all over the U.S. The décor includes old advertising signs, farm equipment, early kitchen appliances and photos which complement the country-style seating. Their menu includes home-style comfort foods like meatloaf and house-made mashed potatoes daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure to stop into the gift shop for souvenirs and a variety of knick-knacks.

awildrosee60. I find that Cracker Barrel is consistent wherever you go and the wait is not bad usually since you can browse in the store at lots of quality items. If you go at peak times, sometimes you wait longer but I avoid those times. The chicken tenderloins and chicken and dumplings are especially good, the carrots are sweet as sugar and most everything I try is worth the moderate cost.

The best value. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, Cracker Barrel has something for everybody.

Best is breakfast with real maple syrup, fluffy eggs and crisp bacon.

Mashed potatoes are "real" and not from a box. Meatloaf is soft and moist.

Hands Down and Granpa's Favorite!. The Cracker Barrel chain restaurant in any city is always one of if not the best choice for breakfast 24 hrs. The Old Timers and Grand Pa's breakfast entrees are served hot and superb. Be sure to ask for extra gravy or strawberry jam with sour dough toast. The staff is friendly, unfortunately the distance for most to the restaurant is quite a jaunt. Enjoy -- the worst thing is that they did away with the frequent diner's club.

Bob is Better. If you like Cracker Barrel, you should try the new Bob Evans that has opened up just north of 295 on San Jose Blvd in Mandarin. They serve the same home cooking style meals - but they taset even better. I suggest you try the Country Bisquit Breakfast - a fresh bisquit topped with crumbled sausage, an egg (I like mine scrambled), creamy country gravy, and shredded cheddar cheese served with a delicious side of home fries. If you're there in the morning, ask for Pat, she is one of the best servers in the business!

Very Family Friendly. This is a busy restaurant that draws a large family crowd. The portions are large and prices reasonable. This is a good place for a big Sunday breakfast. Wait times are long, so browse the gift shop.
