Excellent Food!. My girlfriend and I stepped out for a drink the other night and decided to go to "The Tree". We ordered a couple of drinks then decided to stay for dinner. We both ordered the same thing Salad Bar(Best I've ever seen) and a couple of Prime Rib Sandwiches! We asked if the could make them like Philly Cheese steaks with mushrooms
Jacksonville's Worst Kept Secret-Tree Steak House.
After YEARS of dining in this Mandarin resturant, we decided to call it QUITS!!
My husband and I had our First Date here and this is way we went back time and time again. Over the past 2-3 years this place has gone way down hill! The service, food, and atmosphere has not been a pleasant experience for us.
Never Again. Unprofessional, Horrible.
We were celebrating my god niece 16 birthday.
Our experience started with our reservation for 6 was not on the list.
There was no AC, so the restaurant was hot. They told us it was broken for the past few days.
( with those prices they could fix it.)
Our waiter was very slow , asking several times for our beverages. We (6 ) ordered the 11 oz steaks, My steak had so much fat , by the time I cut it away I had the size of a hamburger. If I wanted a hamburger I would have gone to STONEWOOD for the best burger around.
I told the waiter the steak was very bad. He told the older gentleman .( I think the owner) When he came to the table he proceeded to bark at me about how good his steaks are, and got mad at me. He removed my steak never asked if I wanted something else and walked away leaving me with rest of my (5) party
with No food NO plate Nothing
. SHAME ON YOU MR. OWNER.
AND IF YOUR NOT THE OWNER YOU SHOULD BE FIRED. I WAS EMBARRASED FOR YOU.
The AMBIENCE is gone. Dated , dark ,lost in the 80s.
OVER PRICED FOR THE QUALITY.
Always Enjoy our visit.
We have been going down to Florida every winter for about 15 years and always include a visit to the Tree.
I can honestly say I have NEVER had a bad meal at the Tree and the service has always been outstanding.
When visitors come with us or come down to visit us they all want to make sure we eat at least one dinner at the Tree. We love the Grouper and of course the steaks, always done the way we request. Their desserts are very special- I love the Key Lime pie and my husband loves the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Unfortunately this winter we did not make it to Florida, or the Tree, and I am truely not sure which I missed the most! Looking forward to next year!!!
Awesome Steaks & Service. We Started in the Bar, sat down and heard the piano player playing nice soft music in the background. It was quite enjoyable. The drinks were heavily poured and tasty. We sat in the bar for about an hour then headed to the dining room. I was hungry and ordered a custom cut Rib-Eye. They brought a meat cart to my table and asked how thick I motioned about 2" and it came back to me absolutly perfect. The seasoning they used was fantastic. Warm bread, fresh veggies, and the salad bar were awesome. My Girlfriend ordered the Grouper and I couldn't believe the size of the filet. I tasted that as well it was delicious, I think it was encrusted in Cashew's or soem equally good nutty covering. The dessert was the bomb! We both ordered a slice of Home made Key Lime Pie and it was to die for. I will be back again and again. They have a dinner card there that I bought and it basically gives you buy one get one free on the meal(not drinks). They've been around for 40 years here in Jax and it shows. Everything was done right! Bill was very affordable! Enjoy!
second time same results. Our second time to the tree, the first was such a disaster with the wait staff not getting orders correct, food either being overcooked or cold. Second trip, wrong food delivered to table, then waiter argued that I was wrong, he brought what I ordered. I think I can tell the difference between a T-bone and a Filet. 3 at our table ordered 10oz filet, received 3 different size steaks, noticibly different. All 3 ordered the same temp. all 3 noticibly different. End of meal check had items we didn't even order. Just wouldn't expect from a steakhouse with these prices. I can get more flavor, more food, and better service from Long Horn.
No More Tree Steak House for us. It pains me to state that we would not revisit the Tree Steak house in Mandarin after several past visits that were over the top. Over the top in service and the food was amazing. We were disappointed to find out Michael was no longer available to provide us with the caliber of service we were accustom to. The young lady the filled in for him did provide us with great service but it was not personal as it was with Michael. The down hill spiral affect took over from there. The quality of the food was equal to that of a Bennigans or lower level restaurant. This definitely was not what we had experienced in the past. My wife would looked forward to the Creme Brule' with each visit. It was not available/ready during our visit. In closing I will says thanks for the Memories Tree Steak House but the value for us to travel back to Jacksonville for Georgia has we did, is not there any longer.
Nice steak house!. We went on a Wednesday night to avoid the crowds and were seated promptly. I had a sirloin which was delicious but the potato was small I thought. The salad bar was mundane to say the least but ingredients were fresh. We liked the Tree Steakhouse but thought it was a bit overpriced. It would get higher marks if we could have dinner, drinks, and tip for less than $50 each.
Incredible steak, but that's about it.
I was beyond shocked when I opened the menu on my first visit to Tree Steak House. Given the ambience, my dining partners and I did not expect to see a 6 ounce filet mignon for $22, particularly one accompanied by such boring sides and a pathetic salad bar.
I must say, though, that I was pleasantly surprised by my medium rare filet. It was perhaps the juciest steak I have ever had and absolutely melted in my mouth. If only there was something other than a plain steamed broccoli stalk or a baked potato to accompany it. And the unlimited salad bar? Nothing interesting there, either. Lettuce, a few toppings, and an assortment of dressings. Who wants to go back for seconds of that?
The decor is 1980s country kitchen in hunter green vinyl. The Tree could do well with a makeover, something lively and interesting, circa 21st century.
Our waiter was competent and professional, but seemed to be putting on airs in line with the prices, but certainly well beyond the ambience of the Tree.
Sure, the steak is incredible, but I'm paying for more than the meat. It's the entire experience that makes a restaurant unique and a place to which one desires to return. With so many other options in Jacksonville, why take a trip in this time machine?
an insiders view.
As a former chef for "TheTree" I can honestly say that not making
The Tree Steakhouse your next dining destination will be a "great missed steak".
