Inattentive Staff and Unreasonably Long Wait. Ragtime Tavern's food is good - especially the White Chocolate Sun-Dried Cherry Bread Pudding and poached eggs on crab cakes. HOWEVER - we arrived at 1:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon and were informed we would have a 40 minute wait. We accepted that and waited . . . . and waited . . . . . for one-and-a-half hours. They explained that they didn't have a seating area large enough for our party and we would have to wait for a party of 25 guests to finish their brunch - our group consisted of 8 adults and 2 children. We were given no apologies, alternative seating choices or better service when we were finally seated, even though one lady in our group (a diabetic) suffered a severe drop in blood sugar which caused her to become nauseous and faint. We obtained juice from the bar to stabilize her condition, but we were ignored by apathetic staff. We did not raise a ruckus due to the poor service, but we will not return - ever.
great place to get wild. Great place to catch dinner and a few drinks if you can get a sitter on a weekend night. Bartenders are kind of arrogant but probably just because they don't get a lot of "lady action." sorry guys, but most of us pretty ladies who come in aren't there to pick you up, we just want to have some drinks and dance to the rock band.
Such a disappointment. I didn't go to the Ragtime Tavern for a while and... boy... such a disappointment today. Just to start, the hostess placed my friend and me on a tiny table, barely big enough for one (before someone asks I'm a size 8) even if other tables were available and the restaurant was far from full. In fact when the entrees arrived few minutes after the salads (no idea why so fast) we had to help the waitress( moving pepper, salt etc on the window-sit) to make enough space to put the plates on the table. Once we were able to finish the salads paying a lot of attention to not knock the entrees from the table, everything was pretty cold. That didn't help the taste of the blackened snapper, fat to the point of being disgusting. Add to that the pressure of the waiter that asked for 4 times if my friend wanted a box even if she was eating. At the end I asked for a feedback/comment book. Guess what... they didn't have one.
Good Food, Good Beers, Good Staff, Good prices. Visited Rag Time 11/08/08, there were five of us. Three ordered paella, which was incredible, a must have....don't forget to ask for bread to sop up the savory broth. My girlfriend had the cajun seafood pasta which was also delicious, light cajun cream sauce, tons of different pieces of seafood, like the paella. Might be a little rich for some. I had the filet and shrimp. The filet came as cubes on a skewer that were just like butter when eaten, the shrimp were stuffed with bacon and tons of crab meat, tasty mashers too. Drinks: pale ale was decent, but the honey wheat is over the top, wish they bottled it. Desert: bourbon pecan pie was small and sloppy, key lime cheese cake was good, not the best ever but good.
Good food and great ale.. I stopped in at the bar and had the fried oysters and the blackened scallops appetizers. The scallops were very good, but the fried oysters were a bit soggy, as if they had been sitting on the shelf a few minutes before serving. I also ordered a stout, which was great. The bar tender was friendly and the service was good. The Ragtime falls in line with most of the restaurants in the beach area.... average.
Friendly bar tenders, fast service and delicious food. Great experience for all those who like to dine out. YUMMY!
Better than Sundog. This restaurant is better than Sundog if you order the right stuff on the menu. That's the problem though, you either have to sit through sub-par meals or go with a regular to know what not to eat. But, if is a good place for a date, but don't leave your date at the table...it's kind of a meat market and the married men are out in force. So she may not be there when you return....
Good seafood. Ragtime has good food and an even better staff. Whether you are there for business or pleasure, ragtime has a wide array of menu selections and a great drink menu. Great night dining and atmosphere!
Not so good aniversary. Went with wife on Aniversary. Was seated looking out dirty window. Noticed spider weaving web up window casing. My wife and I both felt and saw a fly buzzing around our legs. I ordered blackened flounder with barbecued oysters. The plate came out and the fish looked good, but the oysters consisted of three clumps of fryed batter. I was a little shocked but didn't want to ruin my wife's time, so I forked one and started eating it. It was cold and warm, like a microwaved dish. I ate it and started in on another one. It was the same way. this time I removed it from my mouth and discarded it. My wife asked what was wrong so I told her. She called the waitress over and told her. She started with an excuse, and I stopped her and told her that I had expected nice plump juicy barbecued oysters. She gave me a look like she saw my point, and said sorry and shrugged her shoulders. I said not to worry about it and motioned that everything was alright. I will say that the fish was very good. Later in the evening though, the oysters had the last laugh. I was up most of the night, if you know what I mean!!!
FUN place GOOD food CHALENGING parking. A lively young crowd hangs out here in this local brewpub / restaurant. Considering it's popularity, the service is quite efficient. My friends always order the Ahi tuna and love it; I am hooked on the shrimp and grits (don't knock it if you haven't tried it! It's great). Diner for 3 with drinks came to about $75, not bad for good food and a fun night out.
