Good Food.
Occasionally visit Beach Hut with the wife, who is a breakfast nut. Food is very good, but nothing out of the ordinary that would warrant five stars. Portions are good, but you sit shoulder to shoulder with other patrons and often have to wait for a table. I've been here 17 years and it's always been the same. This place must be an institution, as the food is good but not spectacular. However, the wait staff is attentive and friendly. You could do a lot worse!

Not that impressed.
I love a good breakfast, especially when I'm on the road. Having to come to Mayo, I looked for a place to fill my breakfast jones. Reading that this place was voted best in Jacksonville, I knew I had found the gem I was looking for. Boy was I disappointed. The food was bland and not all that impressive. The menu was pedestrian at best, lacking any degree of imagination. Portions were average at best. If this an example of the best in Jacksonville, then you people must be happy with mediocrity in your breakfast as you are with your football team. About the only thing worthwhile was two rather cute waitresses with nice bods. Next time I'll go to Macdonalds

A family favorite.
My grandmother has a condo two blocks from the Beach Hut Cafe, so it is an easy early morning walk for a good, homestyle breakfast and coffee. If you are on a diet, I don't recommend this place! There is nothing low cal or low fat on the menu - just good old fatty breakfast foods. Of course, they serve other meals, but I have never eaten anything but breakfast here. You can get pretty much anything you want, even if it is not on the menu. Stay away from the pancakes though, they are a little tough. You also either want to come early, as we do, or closer to the tail end of the breakfast rush because it can be hard to get a table. Having won many accolades from local papers and magazines, the Beach Hut is a great place to eat. Once you go, you will go back! The people are friendly and the food is affordable - not to mention good! I highly recommend their biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon.

Beach Hut Rocks.
I grew up going to Beach Hut, my mother was best friends with one of the waitresses. I always thought the food was great and the staff friendly. I now am married and live in CT and I miss the down home cooking of this restuarant.

Editorial Review.
Get up early: Inexpensive, home-cooked breakfasts are the main attraction at this casual cafe.

WOW What a breakfast.
I found this restaurant on here and man let me tell you it is the BOMB OMG. When we pulled up I was a little skeptical with the line being out the door and all. But after a short wait aided by the Sunday morning paper, I was treated to the best breakfast I have had since moving to Fl. I got the country breakfast and it was plentiful portions, and my girl got the western omelet she loved it. We will deff. come back for more i could eat there every morning.

Sop it up with a biscuit!.
Beach Hut is definitely the best "breakfast" in town. The food is down home southern cooking you just cannot pass up. Their prices are cheap compared to the other restaurants around town and the portions are enough to fill up anyone -- even myself. You walk in and immediately feel right at home. However, if you don't get there early, you will have to wait but it is definitely worth it!
