Good but pricey; great bar.
Having craved Thai food for months, I went to the Thai Room to get a to-go menu. When I saw the unique bar, I decided to have a glass of wine and order some soup to take home. The wine selection was decent and the staff was very friendly. I ordered Tom Yum soup with shrimp, and asked them to make it "Thai hot."
I had my boyfriend try it since he was new to Thai cuisine and he loved it. It truly was delicious but for $8.50, the portion could have been more plentiful.
We returned for dinner a week later and again, it was delicious. They do put potatoes in a lot of their dishes, though, I noticed. Our entrees were about $17.50 each and I had one glass of wine. Had the prices been a bit lower, we would have ordered an appetizer as well. The service is good, the atmosphere decent (bar is the highlight) but, for the money, I can cook Thai at home for 'way less.
TO EXPENSIVE !!! SMALL PORTIONS.
Ok, just got back from Thai Room Restaurant on Jacksonville Beach Rte A1A.
I ordered a Sea Food soup came in what most places call a "CUP" ... this was billed as a bowel. $8.50 for broth 1 shrimp, 1 scallop, 1 tiny fish cake and 3 tiny pieces of calamari, a few peppers, a mushrooms and onions.
My wife ordered Tom Yum Tofu. Same thing here. Here's was $7.50.
Order of 2 spring rolls ....Very good but not worth $8.50. Plus an up charge to leave out the chicken.
2 cups of soup and 2 spring rolls bill was 27.55. OOUUCCHH!!!!
POOR! FAST FOOD QUALITY THAI FOOD.
Not recommended at all. I love Thai food but The Thai Room has cut the quality of all their meat and vegetables. 1 - 2 years ago I had an above average Thai meal with my girlfriend but a few days ago we returned to a restaurant that cut the quality of everything and raised all the prices. My Red Curry Chicken was oily, bland and overcooked. My friends? fish? Well, we had to send back because it must have sat under a heat lamp or they forgot about it in the oven. We subbed old faithful Pad Thai. Not much better, nothing was fresh and they over salt every dish. Just bad! Something about the food felt dirty. They need to do some heavy cleaning or something. With the way the economy is, I feel that you can find a much better value for your dollar.
Hope this saves you from a similar experience. Happy Dining!
PS... I think the management or owners write the positive reviews for The Thai Room because I can't see anyone who likes Thai food ever going back after sampling other Thai restaurants.
Enjoyed it. The first time i was there was in 2006. Though the atmosphere was nice, I wasn't very impressed with the food. I didn't like the potatoes in my green curry...I didn't think it was an authentic recipe. However, I recently gave this place another try, and I really enjoyed what I had. Great wine and beer selection, too.
Bad Food! Muh better Thai in Jax Beach.
I know the management has received a B rating at all their restaurants around town but my wife loves Asian food. We thought with all the bad press they would be very clean and the food would be worth our $$$.
Bottom line- Horrible! I guess they will be closing soon because the place was empty on a Friday night. Service was average and all the the food was just bad. I do not recommend this place at all. Nothing original on the menu, bad wine selection. Someone needs to have this place rated again and do another check before someone gets seriously sick
GREAT FOOD. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS AND YOU CAN HAVE IT AS SPICY AS YOU WISH.THE STAFF DOES A GREAT JOB OF TAKING CARE OF OUR REQUESTS DURING THE MEAL.
Great food, pleasant atmosphere, good service. - but not recommended for (most) children / this place is an oasis from the madding crowd. . Try the crab rangoon, excellent. All dishes tried were superior, the metric being the Pad Thai. Cosseting service is a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
The Freshest Thai in Jacksonville.
If you want the best of Thai cuisine, go to The Thai Room or their new restaurant off Baymeadows Road called Lemongrass. The executive chef came from Pom's Bistro and he makes all the sauces. I am Asian and it is hard to find a great restaurant that has the flavors that resemble that country and I am glad to find that restaurant.
The owners work at both restaurants and it is a family business of brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles working there.
