Renovations and still the Best in Jacksonville!!. I started going to Ocean Nails 8 years ago. Virtually the same staff the whole time!! Never had to wait long if just walking in - always professional and clean!! Great family environment. I've have gift certificates to other place but always go back to Ocean Nails. Recent renovations are lovely! I highly recommend this place to any one!

Ocean Nails - Scared for life. On Sat June 20th, I, Darlene Forrest, went to Ocean Nails to Pamper and reward myself for a long hot week of working outside and being on my feet in the 110 degree heat!

I had a pedicure and a fill in on my nails. With a special event coming up that night, I also decided to have my upper lip waxed. My hair is blonde so not really obvious but I wanted to feel and look my best that evening. All went well until it came time for the waxing.

A young girl came in to perform this service and began the process by applying the wax to my upper lip. Usually they do one side and then the other. This technician applied the wax to both sides at the same time, which I thought was unusual. She then pulled the wax off the right side. Then she pulled the wax off the left side. Usually the waxing is done at that point and any additional hairs left behind are then plucked out with tweezers. Suddenly I realized she was applying the wax again to the left side. She pressed the cloth on it and pulled the wax off again. Then she applied the wax to the left side again and pulled it off. By the 4th application it was really hurting and stinging and I tried to communicate this to her but she doesn’t speak English. Then she did it again for a 5th time and pulled it off along with several layers of my skin, which caused great pain and bleeding. I immediately jumped up off the table and looked in the mirror to see a large patch was bleeding. She started trying to put aloe on it which hurt even worst.

I went immediately to the owner upset and in pain. All he offered to do was not charge me for the lip waxing ($5) I expressed that this was unacceptable but paid for my other services and left very upset and in great pain.

I had to keep Neosporin on my lip to stop the stinging and pain and hopefully heal without a scar. At the event, everyone kept telling me I had some what they thought was grease on my lip. Very embarrassing and still painful as well. I could not talk, smile or laugh without being reminded of the skin ripped off my lip earlier.

It is 2 days later I still have the abrasion and pain.

June 22

Went to talk to managers/owners of Ocean Nails and present the letter above asking for compensation of the injury. They stated they were very sorry for my injury and would file a claim through their insurance and to come back on Tuesday June 23.

June 23 – My scabbed upper lip and I went back to Ocean Nails to resolve issue and hopefully put this behind us.

When I arrived today they tried to give me a Gift Certificate. When I refused it they began calling me a liar and that I just wanted money. No I want to be able to trust the technicians that are caring for my skin and nails and hopefully prevent this from happening to someone else. I also deserve to be compensated for the pain, suffering and embarrasment I have experienced as a result of their negligence.

I gave them the opportunity to do the right thing however, they choose to make it look as though it was my fault. Its hot my skin is sensitive blah blah blah. I am 52 years old and my skin unfortunately is pretty tough but not tough enough to survive being ripped of with wax 5 times in a row. I explained again that I tried to stop her when it began stinging and hurting but she doesn't speak English. How I am supposed to communicate other than when I finally jumped up off the table to get away from her. THIS IS AMERICA PEOPLE! LEARN HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH

Ocean Nails. Best place in Jax for nails, feet, massage & facials. The staff is the best all around. Henry & Lee do a great job of taking care of their customers and Kim is the BEST in town!
