Another DISSATISFIED former customer
by RCO at Citysearch
Yes, another dissatisfied former customer. I've called often over the past several months regarding my weed problem; the story was always the same; "In a few weeks you'll see improvement." It just got worse. They did re-spray a few times, but the weeds continued to spread..they might as well been spraying water for all the good it was doing. When the manager told they would "come out in a few weeks with a stronger spray", my question was "Why didn't you do that months ago if the current chemicals were not working? And of course, they expected me to continue to pay for the service even though the weed and bug problem continued to get worse. When I suggested that the stronger treatment should be tried at no charge since we had had the problem all summer with things getting worse, not better, the manager got very rude and defensive. He did say he would talk with the owner and call me back, but that was the last I heard from him. He refused to return my phone calls. How they stay in business i'll never know. DO NOT USE SOUTHERN GREEN! A complete WASTE of MONEY, not to mention what I will have to spend to get my yard back in shape!
- Pros: If you WANT weeds and bugs, they're great!
- Cons: Poor quality service, rude manager
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY

THEY GO A NEGATIVE RATING FROM ME. I only picked one since the program makes you chose one. They did not treat the lawn properly. When I started I had a small area where nutsedge grass was growing that I needed to get under control. I now have it throughout my entire lawn along with other weed patches. I was promised sod to replace the area where they let the weeds get out of control. They came and killed allt he weeds in that area ALONG WITH SOME OF MY PLANTS IN THE GARDEN NEXT to weed area. It took them from Spring until October to get the sod installed and then they only layed it on top. I had just had my house pressure washed and they weed wacked the dead weeds which ended up sprayed on the side of my house and window and door. The driveway was also just power washed and now had mud stains on it. Had they done the work back in the spring, I would not have had the damage to the fresh power washed areas. I also ended up with 1/3 of my back yard dying back because of chinch bugs. It took them a week and 1/2 to come back and treat to kill them and the patches grew and grew during that time. The company will not do anything for the dead areas. THEY ALSO WILL NOT GIVE ME BACK ANY MONEY SINCE I PAID FOR THE YEAR IN ADVANCE.
- Pros: NONE AT ALL
- Cons: THEY RUINED MY LAWN
Southern Green - Stay away

I have an established lawn but was having problems with your normal local weeds and mole crickets and my yard was trying to recover from the tough winter we had this year. I saw a southern green technician in my neighborhood and he seemed knowledgeable and eager to solve my problem so I thought I’d give them a try. Their price was $55 per service and there was the normal promises that they would come back out if there were any issues so I started my treatments in March. After 3 treatments and a few phone calls where they came out and “spot” treated because the regular yard-wide treatments were not killing the weeds (even the dollar weeds) and the fact that the areas where the mole crickets were destroying my yard were continuing to grow I decided I needed to do something else. Even my yard guy pointed out ‘hey look at the difference between your yard and the next door neighbor, there is a distinct line of green/lush lawn vs. my thin/brownish lawn’. So the next time I saw the yard treatment guy for my neighbor over there I asked him to take a look at my yard and let me know what he thought. He came over and went right to one of the bare spots put in his hand and turned over the dirt and showed live mole crickets that were in the dirt. I had him treat the yard that day and within one week the grass was a dark green and within two weeks there were runners starting to move into the bare spots.
Now let’s cover their customer service. I had no issues with them returning my calls or coming out to retreat due to the fact that there was no affect from what they were doing. But today I called and asked for an office manager because I wanted to dispute the last bill I just received for the service which they were obviously not doing. The first person I spoke to would not get me to the office manger without knowing what I wanted, obviously they knew what was coming and had their standard practice for working with dissatisfied customers. She became rude very quickly telling me I was wasting mine and their time if I thought there was any chance that I was not going to have to pay the last bill. I still insisted that I talk with the office manager and she told me ‘whatever’ and put me on hold until the person who said she was the office manager ‘jackie’ got on the line. I started the conversation telling her who I was and what I wanted and she instantly went into a mode of telling me that:
- Southern Green has over 2,000 customers and if they were not providing good service they would not be in business.
- That I’m not an expert ‘Am I’ so how can I say that their service is not good.
- That she’s too busy to be working with me, especially since I’m not a customer anymore.
