DUMP!!!! Skank Inn!!. My friends had there beach wedding here. The wedding was gorgeous. The banquet room was decent. As soon as you walk in there are cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the doors are falling off the hinges, (this is just in the lobby), the wall paper is peeling off the walls. After standing in line for over an hour waiting to check in, another guest cancelled his room after checking the mattress and didn't want to sleep on menstrual stains. Can't blame him - as we didn't either. The hotel clerk offered to change his room, he had enough as we did also. We had the chance to look at the rooms, the paint was peeling off the walls, the toilets did not fill up 25 minutes after flushing. It is a very run down hotel. The Super 8 across the street was nicer than this place! Seriously!! Use their pools and stay at the 8. Save your money!!

Worst Hotel Ever. If this hotel could receive a negative rating, believe me, I would give it to them. Upon checking in, we went to our room and the door didn't lock properly or close all the way. That should have been the first clue. The room smelled like "puke", was not clean, and felt really dirty and buggy. We went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. The second room was even worse. The door was open, beds not made, food, garbage, etc. laying around. Again, back to the front desk. Their excuse - 3 of their cleaning crew called in. The girl at the front desk kept saying, "I'm new". What that had to do with the cleanliness of the room, I don't know. They couldn't get keys to encode properly for other customers that were waiting. Even the front desk area had a foul smell to it. We checked out (still waiting for our refund to "hit" our account") as fast as we checked in. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!

Didnt want to leave!. After being terrified by all the NEGATIVE remarks on this website, we were surprised to find it was a wonderful room, with a wonderful view and the boys (both four) loved the slide and didn't want to leave. We had a new room from the looks of the wonderful tiled shower and sink, so we really had no complaints. The lovely "Hungarian housekeeper" was as sweet as she could be and was always there to help with anything we needed.

Steps from the beach!. read the reviews and feel few have stated both pros and cons. What's great about this hotel is that if you are on the north side second floor, you'll have a great view of the ocean and you are STEPS from the beach. Most south and east facing rooms have ocean views as well. This is the northmost property on the beach, so there is nothing between you and the sand and surf. Yes, the hotel is run down. The towels and sheets are threadbare, the wall paper is peeling. However, we found the desk staff to be friendly and helpful. If you are a clean freak (no offense), stay across the street at one of the chains with no view or sound of the surf. However, if you want see this wonderful, beautiful beach; walk to the beach in less than a minute (literally); be able to run back to the room anytime; get great recommendations for restaurants; then this is a good place to stay. The pier is on the other side of the hotel. This hotel is in a great location. I'll go back, and am looking forward to it. I didn't use either pool, so I can't say much, except that many people were using both and having fun.

Great!. All the reviews mention the old rooms, but fail to mention the AWESOME pool with waterslide and children's play area, and tiki bar, all walking distance to the beach, pier, and awesome little eatery across the street. The staff was acommodating, the room was adequate, albeit old and worn. Chek-in was not until 3 p.m., but we arrived at 10:30 a.m. with beach gear in tow and were allowed to spend the entire day at the pool unitl our room was ready. The kids (and I!) loved the waterslide. DH loved the tiki bar. We drove in locally and only planned to spend one night, so we spent the dy at the pool, beach and out to dinner, slept in teh room for a few hours, showered in the mornng and checked out. Spent teh next day in downtown St. Aug and drove home. I admit I would not have been comfotable in that room for more than a day, but we had a great time at the pool. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub for cooler days (I assume) that was pretty new. If you are not a high maintenance person, you will love it. I would definitely go back again for the pool alone, but would definitley pay the extra money for one of the "updated" rooms.
