Food Very Good - "Reservations" Continuing Problem!.
A few years ago this was one of our very favorite restaurants in Jacksonville. We would go often, with the only minor complaint being that the "background" music was sometimes a bit loud, making it neccessary to almost shout while conversing over dinner.
We have, however, found that we simply do not like going as much as we once did. It has gotten to be such a major hassle to wait excessively and we just now mostly go to other restaurants that honor a true reservation policy. This is, after all, not a restaurant that charges like a cut rate pizza joint. If they want to be a better restaurant, simply operate like one!
The food IS excellent, albeit a bit pricey. The service is typically very good as well.
The serious issue is the LACK of a true reservation system. The last two times we have gone we made "reservations" over the phone, which were accepted without correction. Last Wednesday, December 29th, we waited outside in the 45 degree weather 40 minutes after our supposed reservation time. (The previous occassion we were seated nearly 50 minutes late).
When we inquired on this particular occassion - after half an hour - as to why we were waiting so long, we were advised that they DO NOT REALLY have a reservation system but a PRIORITY SEATING system.(Not told this when making the "reservation") This approximates a doctor's office that gives the same apponitment time to several patients. You will no doubt end up waiting there, and here.
Quite simply, we will not go and stand in the cold (or heat) nearly an hour past the time we "reserved" a table for this restaurant. There are other quality restaurants with similar menus within the same drive time from our home where true reservations are taken and honored. It is a shame as the food is good here - but not that good.

Chain eatery serves market-fresh fish cooked on a wood-burning grill, including swordfish and lobster tails dipped in any of its signature sauces.

Excellent restaurant with fast service.
The food is outstanding. I am not sure if its flown in fresh daily, but it tastes like it is. We ordered the Cobb salad as an appetizer and thank God we split it-it was HUGE. The staff was very gracious and accommodating. I had the Imperial something (a special) and it was some of the best fish and crab I have had in Jacksonville and maybe ever. You will want to lick you plate when you are done (I don't suggest it though). The sauces that the fish come with are very well made and they do a good job of pairing the fish and sauces. We were very pleasantly surprised at the pricing-we expected it to be much more expensive than it was based on the menu and the atmosphere.
The atmosphere was upscale and the bar area is very open and warm. The bar is set up so that it can accommodate large groups of people comfortably, which is another plus. Also, they make a good martini. This would be a prime happy hour location if I worked closer to it.
We were told this is a good place to go, even with small children. If your child is 2 years old or more, I would agree with that. Our son was a little too young for it at 7 months. We will definitely drop him off with the grandparents and come back to this place again!
