Very unsatisfied
by georgette34 at Citysearch
Just a warning to anyone thinking of dining at this eatery. I will not say the food was horrible, but the sevice and attitude of staff is. My family and I went in for diner, my father and I ordered the buffett while his wife orderd a entree. My father and I went the buffett and while waiting the 30 minutes for my fathers wifes entree she had a piece of chicken from his plate. This to our surprise prompted a bill that included two charges for my fathers wife including a enteree and a full price buffett...... for one piece of chicken! When we questioned this charge the girl POINTED in our faces and pretty much called us liars when we stated we were being treated unfairly. Well I do'nt know about you but there are far to many places to eat in Jacksonville to be treated so horribly.
Hala`s Is anything but Rude.
by AMN1021 at Citysearch
To say Hala`s "Sucks" , Is a matter of Oponion. If you dont like the Food , Service or Culture then I would suggest that you try KFC , Arbys, Wendys. I have been a customer of the Cafe` since Hala`s Father Opened the Place. As an American , I some times have had a hard time expressing what I was looking for or what I wanted to know about a certain product. I have never felt that the staff was being Rude . Miss communication . Yes . Hala`s will go out of the way to make any one happy. Dont let one bad visit keep you from enjoying the products that they offer. They really are Nice People who have a lot of Foods and Hooka items that you might just enjoy if you give them a second chance. Or try Karmas right up University Beach Blvd side on the right that is Awesome.
best food better prices

i have been going there since well early 90's and still can't get enough. even now we go at least 2 or 3 times a week. it is like extended family. food is always hot, tasty, and affordable. plus they have a store that is connected in the even you are feeling you want to try to make something yourself they will talk you through it. i sware by it we feel better for eating there instead of fast food, stake houses, and pancake joints.
- Pros: family owned, been around forever, home cooked recipies
- Cons: none come to mine
HALA'S HAS THE BEST FOOD IN JAX
by amya228 at Citysearch
Everyone who gave this place a bad review must be crazy! Hala's has got the best food by far in Jacksonville. Everything is FRESH and VERY flavorful. The wait staff treats you like a friend and once you are a regular you are a part of the family. I would recommend eating at Hala Cafe to anyone. Other middle eastern restaurants in Jacksonville do not offer the same quality of food at ALL. Others offer dry and bland food where as Hala's offers everything you would want in a meal. I'm upset that there isn't a 1,000,000 star rating!
- Pros: EVERYTHING. The food, wait staff, location, prices and the grocery store.
- Cons: BIG lunch crowd. Parking during lunch time could be easier. worth it.
Try CASBAH or some other place instead

Hala cracks me up with all the fake raves because of SO many negative reviews. This place is just no good. avoid at all costs.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything - especially the rude staff
Great MIddle Eastern food! Great Service!
by sonnysgirl21 at Citysearch
I personally love Hala's food and wait staff. Everythings always really good & the staff (including Joe) is always really nice. BTW, there is no Hala on Baymeadows, there hasnt been for many years... shows how much the person who left the bad review before me knows... not very credible, huh... I would definitely recommend Hala Cafe!
- Pros: Great food, affordable price
- Cons: fighting the lunch crowd
THIS PLACE S U C K S!!!!!!!!!!!!
by MidEastSammy at Citysearch
Bad, RUDE wait staff. TERRIBLE manager "joe". These people just get mad when you complain instead of CORRECTING the problem - like the RUDE wait staff. The baklava was dry as a bone.
Go to the Hala on BAYMEADOWS instead. Better people, better owners, better food, and best of all - NO JOE!
- Pros: Crazy Joe didn't assault me?
- Cons: EVERYTHING
Best Middle Eastern Food Around!!
by micschall at Citysearch
I really enjoy the food and the atmosphere at Hala Cafe, I stop by anytime im around the area. For the couple of bad reviews ive read about this place and the management, I have to agree with the last reviewer, its got to be a problem with the customer!! The staff and manager, 'Joe', couldnt be nicer or more professional, Ive never had a problem with them. But I guess you cant please everybody... Stop by and judge for yourself, its a great spot for lunch, affordable with a great selection and a friendly staff!!
Great Food & Great people! Joe is the Best!!
by rebsmith1010 at Citysearch
I personally love Hala Cafe! The food is excellent, and the wait staff is friendly. Im not sure how the manager, Joe, got such bad reviews from users on this site, he is such a nice person and has always been extremely friendly and helpful to me and my family. It doesnt get any better than him, or hala overall!! Would definitely recommend!!
- Pros: Great Food, friendly staff!!
- Cons: Always busy at lunch time, must tell you something!!
Great Arabic food

The food is great. The hummus and cheeses are fresh and the kebabs are tender. This place also has a great grocery store connected to it that sells hookas!
- Pros: great lunch buffet
Not off to a good start - Phones need to be fixed
by eztrada07 at Citysearch
I just tried calling 10 times to get a menu faxed and the line was incredibly unclear so the woman asked me to call back. Then I just kept getting hung up on as soon as they answered. They wouldn't even say hello. Then 3 other times I got a fax line in my ear. This place definitely doesn't know the meaning of customer service nor do they seem to care. Not so impressed...........
A restaurant normally has their phone systems work when they want business, The Holla Cafe I guess is trying a new approach by horrible customer service and a phone that doesn't work.
- Cons: Can't get through on the phone to even try their food. Just hung up on continuously.
