As a musician and music teacher, I've had first-hand negative experience with this business. While the lessons are appetizingly inexpensive, the lack of quality service is apparent: the owner displays blatant disregard for the idea that "the customer is always right." On several occasions, I've witnessed the owner arguing with customers, both over the phone and in person, and often in front of the customers' own children. Rather than there being an emphasis on what is best for the student, it seems that money-making and filling up time slots is the first priority. And it certainly shows. In addition, the facilities, especially the restroom, are usually poorly maintained and the pianos are rarely, if ever, tuned, which is detrimental to any student trying to develop an accurate musical ear. The contract to be signed upon commencing lessons is more of a ball and chain device, binding the customer to the conservatory with virtually no escape save for the customer moving away. And the seemingly harmless initial 2-month contract will automatically lapse into an additional 6-month obligation, a detail which is usually overlooked by the busy customer/parent and is rarely discussed by the owner during the signing up process. There is really no point in going much further. However, I encourage you to check the bureau where you will find over 20 complaints regarding this business and the poor customer service. I suggest instead the Florida Conservatory of Music located in Jacksonville off of Beach Blvd. whose owner will show you the respect and quality which is absent from the location in San Jose.
Pros: cheap music lessons
Cons: poor customer service and quality
