I moved here from NJ...where I used to go to this amazing salon called Bangz...which had a cutting edge sense of style. I was accustomed to paying a lot for my haircuts, which I have found is a totally worthwhile investment, so when I moved to JAX in June I told myself I would search for my replacement salon and price wouldn't matter (too much at least). People recommended supercuts, and a number of other chain salons, but I refused to give in, due to a traumatizing experience that drove me away from chain salons. I went to the local pages on Yahoo and found Envy. There was one review, which said that you must go to Carrie since they were so pleased with their hair. So, I gave it a shot and boy was I pleased. First off, these are the most real and relaxed women. While some reviews say they are vulgar/potty mouths...I say they are the perfect blend of professional, caring for their clients, while not compromising their personality just to fit a mold a make a buck. Yeah, they swore a couple times, so what? We're all adults there...and they were so friendly and full of life! Carrie gave me personalized attention while having a complete consultation on what I wanted and making sure we had the plan straight before even shampooing and holding the scissors to my hair. She even went out of her way to show me her vision from a magazine to make sure we were on the same page of what the final product might look like. They also offer complimentary refreshments from coffee and tea, to water and lemonade. Currently, they are located inside another salon due to the fact that they are building a new salon and haven't been able to move into it yet. I will continue to go back to Carrie for her skill and to this salon for the exciting women; and I am eager to see the vibe and personality of their new salon when they are in their own space. I love my hair!

Ashley D. does a wonderful job- I went to Envy in September on a whim and have never been more impressed. Growing up with a hairstylist for a mom (literally), I never had a reason to go to another stylist besides her, but living in Jax and with her out of town, I was forced to find a salon. I am so excited that I found Envy and have now gone back to Envy for a second time and I love it. Personally, I like people that provide entertainment to the lengthy experience of sitting in a chair while someone works on your head- their banter is entertaining to me and they always have interesting stories- I like not being the one to have to generate a conversation. I also enjoy their flexibility- when I work 40 hours a week and I can call in and schedule an appointment that allows me to work a full day and get my hair done- I'm happy! I highly recommend this salon.

• Cons: Location isn't the most convenient for me

WOULD NEVER GO BACK

Wanted to give my brown/blonde hair a "winter" look and specifically told the girl....."Not too dark". I even provided pictures. I ended up with black purplish hair. It is awful!! I spoke with the owner and requested my money back. I explained to her that I had another salon look at my hair only hours after I left her salon and her comment was "Any salon that could have gotten you in on such last minute notice on a Saturday is not reputable". She said she would be willing to reimburse me only half of my money back because she had already paid the stylist. I told her that my hair was ruined. I was accused of exaggerating. She told me that she was the professional and that I wasn't going to TELL HER that my hair was ruined...... She was less than sympathetic, FULL of ATTITUDE, and unprofessional to say the least. She bragged to me about how large her clientele was.......hope she can keep it!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone. Bottom line - I did not get what I wanted and the salon's customer service was crap.

i had so much fun at this salon envy has a great staff! the girls are very welcoming and listen about what you want for your hair. they actually SIT down with you and talk about your hair to make sure they understand and look at pictures, i have never been somewhere so fun and personal! Ashley D. did my hair and she did a wonderful job i will be referring all my friends to her :) you have to try it!

I wanted soft blond highlights. I asked for highlights and specifically said, "not too blond". I left with VERY BLOND HAIR! I'm so sad.

These girls are awesome! They do amazing hair and turn your look into something hot and fabulous! Once you leave the salon you will feel bad-ass! They do trendy and BEAUTIFUL hair color! By far the greatest salon i have ever been too and Im addicted and have been going for over four years! You need to experience the fierce-ness do your self a favor and go!!

I been to a few hair salon in Jax. They don't really know what they doin!!! Envy is the place to go ...They really take great care of u...What ever color,Style, or haircut u want ..That's what u get...U come out like a new person and u feel so happy with ur results. The girlzzz are the best... u feel so welcome...I love u Ashley..

Wonderful salon and great loctaion!

This is exactly the salon i have been looking for! i have been to many others were the stylist barely took the time to make sure we were on the same page and ignored me, but here at envy salon these girls are very welcoming and are really here to make sure you are taken care of! i had such a great time getting my hair done with ashley D. she took time to make sure she understood what i wanted.my cut and color was perfect! and the owner whose name is ashley too is so much fun as well. you can tell these girls really love what they do and have a great time doing it! so glad to see that what i thought was truly the goal! by far number one! and i will be going back! and their new location in BEAUTIFUL! check it out!

Exactly What I Wanted

Melissa, the girl who did my hair, was very nice, personable and asked what I wanted. I am not a person who can easily describe what I want but she somehow seemed to get it and the finished look was amazing. She took her time cutting and made sure that all sides were even, i can't stand it when if feels like someone is rushing your cut and you feel like they didn't take the time to check every angle. Alll in all I will go back.

• Pros: personal, nice, clean, great hair cut
• Cons: they were located in another salon at the time because they were having their salon redone.

i love envy. the girls are super cool. i had a gift card and had a blast. my hair is amazing, i have never been to a group of stylist who know so much.. it is very easy to see that they all take great care with their clients.. i loved my experience and will be envy forever.... btw ashley did my hair. she is a lot of fun..

Carrie makes this salon great.

I was visiting Florida for 2 months and needed to get my hair done before I travelled home for the holidays. I have to say I had a great experience, glad I took the chance. The reason I chose Carrie at this salon was based on the great reviews she had already received online, and now I can agree whole-heartedly with them. :) Not only does she have a sweet and professional personality, she is also a very accomplished stylist and colorist. She spent quite a long time on my hair and was firm in making sure I was completly satisfied with my style and color, which I was!

I would say the only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars was because a few of the other stylists seemed a little less accomodating and professional, although they were friendly. I honestly would not go back to the salon if Carrie no longer worked there. As well, I would guess that if Carrie wanted to leave and go to a more upscale salon at some point in the future that her skills and attitude would both guarantee her success. I wish her all the best.

• Cons: temporary situation in back of another salon...which couldn't be helped.
