Avoid this salon

As a new resident to the Jacksonville community, I was hopeful that this salon would be a place I could go to permanently from now on. The staff was eager to get me in the door for an appointment, but once I was taken back to the stylist chair 20 minutes late the whole experience dwindled. My stylist was friendly enough but a stiff feeling of inexperienced questions about what I wanted persisted. I brought pictures as examples, however they were not looked at the entire time. upon the mid point of my appointment another client was booked which caused my stylist some obvious tension as my hair was not done. With 15 minutes until her next client was to arrive, I was instructed that a dry would not be possible. As not wanting to leave with wet hair I moved to another station to dry my own hair. Upon paying I was visibly unhappy- a girl wants to leave the salon feeling like a goddess, not a wet dog! Upon checking out I made it clear to the owner that I was not to be charged for a blowdry as one did not occur. This was the eureka moment that she sprung upon me that I was at fault for not requesting one. The girl stylist made a quip as well that it was not in her schedule and the next client had arrived. I replied that her being overbooked was not my fault or problem and that I had to wait to be seen. My highlight the next day were a bit streaked and not as expected. I will not go back for touch ups for fear of what will happen again. I left feeling like I should be the one apologizing for their unorganization and lack of time management. The owner of the salon gave me an unthoughtful "we're sorry you were disappointed, and that this would be a learning experience for them." I recommend staying away from this place of business!

Awesome Experience

This salon is adorable and the staff were a lot of fun to be around. I got what I expected of an AVEDA salon and love my hair. I also had waxing services done. Best I ever had. Don't miss this place! Great find.

awesome place for color/highlights

New to town and went to see Jamie who is also relatively new to the salon. I was really impressed with her ability to determine what my hair needed. I have always pulled red when I color my hair( I am a dark brunette with a lot of gray). Jamie was able to pull a real pretty brown with gold and caramel highlights, no red. She is also fun to talk to and a hard worker. I will definitely be back.

Very pleased

I was in town only for two months while my husband was receiving treatment at the Proton Radiation Center. Although the owner, Natasha, knew I could not bewcome a regular customer, she followed the color formula I brought from my hometown Aveda Salon. She did an excellent job with the color and cut understanding what I wanted from both. Because of scheduling conflict. my next appointment was with Lauren. She too, did a great job. I couldn't have been more pleased. As a bonus. the shop is located in the area called Avondale and is surrounded by good restaurants and nice shopping. This experience gave an added boost tp temporary living in Jacksonville.

Terrible customer service

I was overcharged for my services. The stylist did not know how to correct the charge. Neither did the receptionist. I was told several times the problem would be fixed. It wasn't. I have now made several phone calls and two visits to the salon to rectify my charge card. "Natasha" was the last one to say she'd fix the problem and said she'd call me back in half an hour. Four days later, I'm still waiting. Now I have to contest the charge through my credit company. What a hassle. The stupid thing is, this salon is always advertising for new customers and cutting deals for walk-ins. Then they run people off with complete incompetence. Bummer.

Excellent Cut and Hightlight in Avondale

I found Avante while walking in the Avondale Shops. I had my long hair cut/ trimmed and highlighted by the owner (Natasha) and I love it. She is great! My hair felt and looked like it never has before. They sale Aveda at this salon and I bought a few items which they said would help me control my hair and keep the color in it. There was no pressure in this salon and the conversation in the shop was clean and educational about hair and color, not gossip!

This is my kind of salon and you will enjoy the multiple experiences, such as the hot towel treatment and the Aveda Hand Rub too. The shop was reasonably priced. You get what you pay for. I mean it's Aveda!

If your looking... all the girls were busy cutting and coloring... the staff are experts... you can tell! Give them a try! Total Rating: 9 to 10... Location 10... Staff 9 to 10... Owner 10! Natasha is good, I'm sure of that!

Lacking in the Customer Service department

After three different visits, each with a different stylist, I am officially done with Avante. My first visit was scheduled with the owner, Natasha, since I was getting over 10 inches cut off to donate to Locks of Love and doing highlights- which I had not done in years. Although, I was unhappy when they didn't give me the option of keeping the hair for me to send in, the cut and color was very similar to the picture I had picked out. I liked it a lot. That was back in Sep and I just went in for a haircut with Emily, who took it upon herself to give me an asymmetrical haircut when my hair is short and super curly. My color could not be done that day so I went in a few days later for color with Courtney. This is where I am infuriated. The card that was supposedly annotated with the colors used on my hair was no where to be found. And to make things worse, it appears that bleach was used in my hair. No wonder the blonde curls were so relaxed. I am not impressed with the "color lift" and the haircut's imperfections have revealed themselves in the process. If you have the money to spend for marginal service than go right ahead and try Avante.

• Cons: The mula is gone and now I will spend more to get another haircut....

My Best Haircut Ever in Jacksonville

Since moving to Jacksonville 2 1/2 years ago, I have been searching for the perfect haircut. I am very particular, and my favorite style is a short inverted bob. After a long search, I finally found what I've been looking for at Avante Salon Avondale. Jaime really knew what she was doing, and I am completely satisfied with the result! Everything falls exactly where it should, and it shapes my face perfecly. It is also very easy to style. I will definitely schedule a second appointment with Jaime!

Courtney did a great job.

I went to this salon for the first time last Friday. Although the salon wasn't as nice as other Aveda salons, I found the staff to be very friendly. Courtney cut my hair and did a great job. First she sat me down to discuss what I wanted to have done and then she gave me a very relaxing scalp massage with some sort of peppermint oil. It felt great! I liked how she used her finger tips instead of her nails like some other stylists do. After she shampooed my hair, she did a fantastic cut. It didn't take her as long as it does at other places, yet she wasn't rushing through it either. I usually don't get my hair dried and styled at salons simply because I hate the way other people do my hair, but Courtney did pretty well. I enjoyed talking to her and could relate to her on several levels. I think Aveda really made a good decision when they hired Courtney.

Great find in Avondale

Yes Yes Yes, Being new to Jacksonville but an older Aveda fan I decided to try Avante in Avondale. I was use to the Aveda points of difference and was sure I would never see it again after leaving Ohio. To my amazement Avante's personnel performed the rituals and I found a hair and body home. The experince was heavenly and the staff was perfect. The salon was busy and smelled like Aveda. They had all the Aveda lines, including make-up and everything for hair and body. The salon was clean and professionally managed. I read several of the others ratings online and can't figure out what some people want?? I think they were Supercuts Clients who does not know what Aveda is about. People complain about everything but Avante is a find and that's a fact. Trust in an old Aveda hand. Avante is well managed and performed C/C/BD on me and I'll be back and with my husband next time. Help the Environment and use Avante for your hair and body needs.

By the way... I laughed until I cried because the girls were so much fun! It was great girls. Keep up the good work!
